Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is characterized by frequent relapse and poor long-term survival. Recent advances in therapy have begun to reshape management strategies for SCLC, particularly in limited-stage disease where concurrent platinum-etoposide chemoradiotherapy has become the standard of care. In extensive-stage SCLC, the combination of platinum-chemotherapy with PD-L1 inhibitors is now preferred. The review discusses the importance of individualized treatment approaches, including maintenance therapies and the role of novel agents, while emphasizing the need for ongoing surveillance and innovative trial designs.
