Invasive mechanical ventilation in critically ill adults requires careful management of oxygen levels to maintain adequate arterial oxygen saturation. This study was conducted as a pragmatic, cluster-randomized trial to determine the most effective oxygen-saturation target for improving clinical outcomes. The primary outcome measured was the number of days alive and free of mechanical ventilation within a 28-day period, with secondary outcomes including mortality rates and safety events. The findings aim to inform clinical practices regarding oxygen management in mechanically ventilated patients.
