The clinical case
A 54-year-old female Ugandan from Nakasongola, with no known history of a chronic illness presented to the hospital with a complaint of general body discomfort associated with weakness of the right side of her body for one day. She reported no vomiting, no dizziness, denies any fever, headaches or change in vision. She is a shop keeper who spends most of her time standing serving her clients. On arrival she reported that there was no history of any sudden collapse and had no similar episodes before. On examination, her BP is 198/119 mmHg for which she is given intravenous labetalol 10mg, and her BP reduced to 156/96 mmHg after 15 minutes. Other systems seem unremarkable except for power in the left side of the body that is rated at 3/5. The radiological investigations for Brain CT scan are unavailable at the moment.
