Flumazenil is commonly used for reversing benzodiazepine overdose, but its safety profile has been questioned due to reports of serious adverse events, including seizures and cardiac arrhythmias. This review aims to evaluate the risks associated with flumazenil in patients with suspected benzodiazepine intoxication. The authors conducted a literature search to identify relevant randomized clinical trials, focusing on adverse events, serious adverse events, and mortality outcomes. The findings suggest a need for caution in the use of flumazenil, given the potential for significant adverse reactions.
